SUMMARY:Lunch Talk "High-Standard Opening-up and High-Quality BRI Development" | Prof. LI Yuan ist zu Gast am Konfuzius-Institut
DESCRIPTION:In his talk Prof. LI Yuan has a closer look at the Chinese Belt and Road Intiative which was initiated ten years ago. He explores how new policies are incorporated and contribute the BRI’s development. He claims that China’s opening-up policy enters a new stage of “high-standard” opening-up\, which aims to better promote win-win cooperation\, better match high-standard international rules\, and better promote the development of new quality productive forces. As a result\, the Belt and Road Initiative enters a new stage of “high-quality” development\, which aims to promote higher quality development through higher-standard opening up\, and share China’s development opportunities with the rest of the world. In the future\, the BRI can enhance the mechanism of joint construction and connectivity of rules and standards to encourage more countries and international companies to participate. \nProf. LI Yuan 李远\, PhD is the Executive Vice Dean of the Institute of International Studies\, Shandong University. He also serves as the co-editor of the Journal of Chinese Economic and Business Studies. He was the President of the Chinese Economic Association\, Europe/UK (2016-2017). From 2014-2020\, he was a professor at the Institute of East Asian Studies (IN-EAST)\, University of Duisburg-Essen. From 2012-2013\, he was an Assistant Professor at Stockholm School of Economics. He held various visiting positions at the University of California\, San Diego\, University of Milan-Bicocca\, and Fudan University.
